MG Majestor Tows a 406-Tonne Train — Guinness World Record Set Ahead of Launch

MG Majestor Guinness World Record train pull official images 2026

When a car company wants to make a statement before launch, they usually run a few ads or do a press event.

MG Majestor decided to pull a train instead.

The MG’s new flagship SUV for India — has just set a Guinness World Record by towing a 406.4-tonne train over 300 feet. This is the first time any SUV has ever achieved this feat. And with pre-bookings already open at Rs 41,000, MG clearly wants every car buyer in India to sit up and take notice.

So what exactly is it, and should you be excited about it? Here is everything you need to know.

What Did the MG Majestor Actually Do?

It’s towed a 406.4-tonne train over a distance of 300 feet — setting a Guinness World Record for the heaviest load ever towed by an SUV.

To put that in perspective, 406 tonnes is roughly the weight of 300 average cars. And the Majestor pulled all of that with its 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine and 4WD drivetrain.

It is a bold stunt — but it also tells you something real about what this SUV is built to do.

MG Majestor — Exterior

The MG Majestor is a big, bold SUV that does not try to be subtle about it.

Up front, the Majestor gets a large rectangular grille with a gloss black finish, flanked by vertically stacked LED projector headlights and slim LED DRLs placed just below the bonnet. The grille also houses the MG logo, along with ADAS radar and front parking sensors. A silver skid plate on the bumper completes the tough, commanding front end.

From the side, the MG Majestor rides on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that fill out the large wheel arches well. Blacked-out pillars, ORVMs, and thick body cladding give it a rugged, purposeful look that stands out on Indian roads.

At the rear, the Majestor features a wide connected LED taillight setup and a large rear windshield. The tailgate carries ‘Morris Garages’ lettering, ‘Majestor’ badging, and a ‘4WD’ badge — leaving no doubt about what this SUV is about. A tall, rugged rear bumper finished with a silver skid plate and dual exhaust tips round off the bold rear end.

The MG Majestor is available in 4 colour options.

Interior and Features

Step inside the MG Majestor and the cabin feels properly premium for a flagship SUV.

The interior comes in a black and grey theme with leatherette seats and a three-spoke steering wheel. The dashboard is a fresh design — different from the older MG Gloster — featuring two large AC vents, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a grab handle on the passenger side. One smart touch is the gear shifter being moved to the steering column, keeping the centre console clean and uncluttered. MG has also retained physical buttons for climate controls, which makes everyday use noticeably more convenient.

The MG Majestor will be offered in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The 6-seater gets captain seats in the middle row, while the 7-seater has a regular bench seat layout.

Key features include:

  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 12-way power-adjustable front seats with ventilation and massage function
  • Three-zone automatic climate control
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Dual wireless phone chargers

Safety features include:

  • 6 airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • ABS with EBD
  • Electronic Parking Brake (EPB)
  • All-wheel disc brakes
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)

Engine and Powertrain

The MG Majestor is powered by a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine — the same engine that just pulled a 406-tonne train.

SpecificationDetail
Engine2.0-litre Twin-Turbo Diesel
Power215 PS
Torque478 Nm
Transmission8-speed Automatic
DrivetrainRWD / 4WD

With 478 Nm of torque on tap, the Majestor feels built for both city driving and off-road capability. The 4WD option gives it genuine all-terrain credibility — not just a badge.

Price and Launch Date

The MG Majestor is expected to launch later this month — April 2026 — with deliveries starting from May 2026.

Expected price: from approximately Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Pre-bookings are currently open at Rs 41,000, and the first 3,000 customers are eligible for exclusive ownership benefits under MG’s 5-5-5 Ownership Programme.

Who Are Its Rivals?

At the expected Rs 50 lakh+ price point, the MG Majestor goes up against some established names:

RivalStarting Price
Toyota Fortuner Legender~Rs 50 lakh
Skoda Kodiaq~Rs 49 lakh
Jeep Meridian~Rs 47 lakh
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line~Rs 48 lakh

The Majestor enters a competitive space — but a Guinness World Record and a flagship feature list give it a strong opening argument.

Should You Be Excited About the MG Majestor?

If you are in the market for a premium full-size SUV with proper towing muscle, a loaded feature list, and a bold design — the MG Majestor is worth watching closely.

The Guinness World Record stunt is clever marketing, but the 215 PS twin-turbo diesel, 478 Nm of torque, 4WD drivetrain, and Level 2 ADAS are the real reasons to be interested.

What we do not know yet is the official price. At Rs 50 lakh, it will need to be sharply priced to take on the Fortuner Legender and Skoda Kodiaq — both of which have strong brand loyalty and established service networks in India.

The MG Majestor launch is expected later this month — watch this space for the official pricing and full variant details.
