Kia K4 Germany / Europe Launch Date
The Kia K4 hatchback launched in Germany and across Europe in September 2025. The European premiere took place at the Munich IAA show in 2025, with dealer sales commencing in the same month. The K4 replaces the Ceed in Germany and most European markets, offering a new platform, sharper design, and the mandatory 48V mild-hybrid system for the EU market.

Why All European K4s Are Mild Hybrid
The EU’s CO2 fleet average targets for 2025 (95 g/km passenger car average) mean naturally aspirated non-hybrid compact sedans are no longer commercially viable for European manufacturers. Kia’s 48V BISG mild hybrid adds approximately EUR 1,200 to production cost but enables the K4 to achieve 131 g/km CO2 (WLTP), keeping it below the German Kraftfahrzeugsteuer penalty threshold.
